Colt WWII Pacific Theater of Operations (PTO) Commemorative 1911 – .45 ACP
High Polish • 1970 Manufacture • C&R • California Legal • Outstanding Collector Condition- 1 Mag - No Box
Here’s a true piece of American firearms history that belongs in a serious collection.
This is an original Colt 1911A1 WWII Pacific Theater of Operations Commemorative, chambered in classic .45 ACP and manufactured in 1970. The slide is beautifully engraved with the major battles of the Pacific campaign — Pearl Harbor, Coral Sea, Corregidor, Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Saipan, Leyte Gulf, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, and Tokyo — bordered by distinctive palm-leaf motifs. The right side proudly reads “WORLD WAR II COMMEMORATIVE / PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS.” Serial numbers carry the distinctive “PTO” suffix that collectors immediately recognize.
Finished in the desirable high-polish presentation style (bright, mirror-like surfaces that show off the engraving perfectly), this pistol retains the elegant look Colt intended for these limited commemoratives. Gold Colt medallions in the grips complete the classic presentation package.
Condition is excellent, come with 1 Mag, No Box — a true “great collection” example with minimal handling marks, tight lockup, and the kind of crisp markings and finish retention that serious collectors demand. It is C&R eligible (manufactured 1970 and listed on the ATF Curio & Relic list), which makes it California legal under the roster exemptions for C&R handguns.
Why this one stands out:
- Genuine 1970 Colt factory commemorative — not a modern reproduction
- Iconic Pacific Theater engraving and high-polish presentation finish
- .45 ACP Government Model platform with full historical pedigree
- C&R status + California legal — easy to transfer and own in restrictive states
- Outstanding collector condition ready for display or a careful range outing
Whether you’re a Colt enthusiast, a WWII history collector, or simply looking for a high-condition, legally straightforward classic 1911 that tells a powerful story, this PTO commemorative delivers on every level.
